The Discussion tab is typically used on Wikipedia if there is a debate about content, or to mark desirable 'to do's'. Discussions can be had also by separate email, which is not bad, especially as one gets used to the wiki format - but with email the disadvantage is that the conversation remains private, or at least if cross posted on a public news group the conversation is not tied to the wiki content it refers to. | The Discussion tab is typically used on Wikipedia if there is a debate about content, or to mark desirable 'to do's'. Using the Discussion tab
Within the Discussion tab, there are two wiki markups that are useful:
One or more ':'
at the beginning of a paragraph, to indent the paragraph.
- For example this paragraph.
- Or this sub-paragraph.
'~~~~'
, to sign the name of the author (and the actual format of the user signature is controlled from the Preferences page, for example mine is [[User:Andrei Radulescu-Banu |Andrei Radulescu-Banu ]] ([[User talk:Andrei Radulescu-Banu |talk]]))
.
The link to log in is at the top right on any wiki page. I have spent some time today to create a navigation menu on the right of the page. This helps navigating back and forth between the various sections of the document. I've pasted this email also in the discussion tab of the front page, as an example of how the discussion tab may be used. Andrei Radulescu-Banu (talk) 19:05, 26 April 2014 (EDT)
