A member preparing an amendment should consult with Town Counsel in advance of the Town Meeting session. All amendments must be in writing, signed by the maker on triplicate forms, and a transparency of the amendment prepared for the overhead projector. Both forms and transparencies are available from the Town Clerk.

The Moderator, Town Counsel, and the maker of the main motion should be given as much advance notice as possible. A member proposing an amendment to a financial article should, if possible, notify the Appropriation Committee and (if appropriate) the Capital Expenditures Committee before the session to give these committees time to consider an opinion on the amendment.
