LPS Administration: Business and Finance

Extended Day After School Child Care

The School Committee is committed to providing resident families with quality affordable child care in our schools. In order to ensure a continuation of high quality programs, the School Committee issued a Request for Proposal, based on the legal requirements of Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 30 B, section 16 {link}.

The School Committee has the legal responsibility to re-issue the RFP prior to the close of each lease to ensure that their goal of “quality affordable child care” is still being met and the programs continue to meet the standards of the Lexington Public Schools. M.G.L. Chapter 30b requires there to be is fair and open competition for public contracts. The RFP responses are evaluated based on whether they are “responsive and responsible" to the requirements of the proposal. A proposal cannot be considered if it does not meet the minimum criteria, including documentation that is missing or not completed as required.

Below is the current history regarding our procurement process.
